Flickr hosts billions of photographs and videos uploaded by professional and amateur photographers around the world. While the platform provides a download button on some individual photo pages, the experience is inconsistent. Many images are restricted by owner permissions that hide the download option, and even when available, the button often delivers a compressed or resized version rather than the original file. There is no built-in mechanism for saving multiple images from an album at once, and video downloads require navigating away from the standard viewing interface.
Flickr Downloader is being designed to sit inside the browser alongside Flickr's own interface. The goal is to detect the media on any Flickr page, resolve the highest-resolution source URL available, and let you save photos and videos to your local machine in a single click. For albums and galleries, a batch mode will allow you to queue and download entire collections rather than handling each photo individually.
Downloaded photos will retain the format and quality of the source file hosted on Flickr. No transcoding or recompression is applied to image files. Video files will be saved in the container format delivered by Flickr's streaming infrastructure.
When will Flickr Downloader be released? A release date has not been set. Sign up at the waitlist link above to be notified as soon as it is available.
Will it download photos at the original resolution? The extension will attempt to resolve the highest-resolution version available for each photo, up to and including the original upload size. Availability depends on the permissions set by the photo owner.
Does it support video downloads? Yes. Downloading videos hosted on Flickr is a planned feature. Videos will be saved in the format served by Flickr's player, typically MP4.
Can I download an entire album at once? Batch downloading of albums and galleries is a planned feature. The extension will let you select multiple items and queue them for download in a single operation.
Will it show the license type of each photo? The plan is to surface Creative Commons license information and rights-reserved status where Flickr makes that data available on the page, so you can make informed decisions before saving.
Is it free? Pricing details will be announced closer to launch. SERP extensions typically include a free trial period.

Flickr is one of the longest-running photo and video hosting platforms on the internet, launched in 2004 and now home to billions of images. It is widely used by professional photographers, hobbyists, and institutions to share and organize visual media. Flickr is notable for its extensive support of Creative Commons licensing, making it a significant source of freely usable imagery. Despite its rich media library, the platform offers limited native tools for downloading content in bulk or at guaranteed original quality. Flickr Downloader is being built to provide that capability directly in the browser for users who need reliable access to the files they are permitted to save.
