Download books, movies, music, software, and archived web pages from the Internet Archive directly through your browser. This extension is currently in development and has not been released yet.
Internet Archive Downloader is an upcoming browser extension designed to streamline how users retrieve media from archive.org. Rather than navigating multiple pages and dealing with inconsistent download buttons across different collection types, this extension will provide a unified interface for locating and saving archived content in the formats you actually need.

The Internet Archive hosts an enormous catalog of public domain and openly licensed media, but downloading from it is not always intuitive. Individual item pages list dozens of derivative files in varying formats, bulk downloads often require torrent clients or command-line tools, and Wayback Machine snapshots have no single-click save option for offline viewing. Navigating these workflows across books, audio, video, and software collections adds friction that discourages casual users from taking advantage of content that is already free to access.
Internet Archive Downloader is being designed to sit inside the browser and simplify this process. The goal is to detect when you are viewing an archive.org item or collection, surface the available files in a clear list, let you pick the formats and quality levels you want, and handle the download without requiring external applications or technical knowledge.
Downloaded files will match the formats already hosted on archive.org. The extension surfaces what is available rather than performing conversions, so you get the exact files the Archive provides.
When will Internet Archive Downloader be released? A release date has not been set. Sign up at the waitlist link above to be notified as soon as it is available.
Does it work with the Wayback Machine? Yes. Wayback Machine support is a planned feature, allowing you to save archived web page snapshots as local files for offline reference.
What file formats will it support? The extension will support whatever formats the Internet Archive makes available for a given item. Common formats include PDF, EPUB, MP3, FLAC, MP4, and ZIP, among many others.
Will it handle large files and collections? The plan includes a download queue with progress tracking so you can manage large files and multi-file batch downloads without the browser stalling or losing track of progress.
Is it free? Pricing details will be announced closer to launch. SERP extensions typically include a free trial period.
Do I need an Internet Archive account? Most public items on archive.org do not require an account to download. Some collections with borrowing restrictions may require a free archive.org account, and the extension will respect those access controls.

The Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library founded in 1996 with the mission of providing universal access to all knowledge. It hosts millions of free books, movies, audio recordings, software titles, and over 800 billion archived web pages through its Wayback Machine. While all of this content is freely accessible, the site's download interface varies across media types and can require multiple steps or external tools for bulk retrieval. Internet Archive Downloader is being built to provide a consistent, browser-based download experience across every section of the Archive's vast catalog.
