pinterest-growth

The Pinterest platform engine — search-first mechanics, fresh vertical pins, keyword/SEO, and outbound traffic that compounds. The agent drafts pins + SEO copy + schedule; the image skills produce the designs; scheduling-and-queue → WoopSocial publishes the pins.

The POV: a search engine where content compounds

Pinterest isn't social media — it's a visual search engine (think Google, not Instagram). Users arrive with intent, discovery is keyword-driven not follower-driven, and pins are evergreen (months–years), so today's work keeps paying for years. Optimise for discoverability + outbound clicks, not in-the-moment engagement. The levers: keyword SEO, fresh distinct pin designs, the 2:3 format, and — uniquely among the majors — linking out (Pinterest wants to send you traffic). It's a long game (3–6 months to traction). Best for visual/product/lifestyle/ e-commerce/blog-traffic brands.

Read these first

brand-profile — look, palette, audience, non-negotiables.
voice-builder — so pin titles/descriptions sound like the brand.

The framework: PINS

(Depth: references/the-pins-framework.md.)

P — Position for search: keyword research first (Pinterest Trends/autocomplete; long-tail, semantic); keywords in title/description/board/alt/filename; boards as keyword-themed clusters. (The keyword-research + title/description craft → pinterest-seo.)
I — Images that stop + signal: vertical 2:3 (1000×1500) (other ratios penalized) + keyword text overlay; static for traffic, video (9:16, 6–15s) for engagement; the pin's visual craft → pinterest-pin-design (rendered via the image skills).
N — New designs, consistently: fresh is the #1 rule — 3–5 distinct designs per destination (not repins); 3–10/day steady; space ~72h between pins to the same URL.
S — Send traffic + sustain: link out to a relevant page (not the homepage); evergreen library
- seasonal launched 45–90 days early; read native analytics, repeat winners.

The reality (verify-quarterly)

Search-not-social; fresh pins #1 (~90% of traffic; saves now minimal); keywords top factor (hashtags ~1% — dead); 2:3 mandatory; link-out rewarded; 72h same-URL rule; seasonal lead times; fit + GenAI disclosure: references/pinterest-2026-reality.md. Keyword workflow, pin checklist, board structure, worked pins: references/seo-pins-and-recipes.md.

Honest scope (never violate)

Long game — set expectations (3–6 months to traction; then compounds). No "viral next week".
Agent drafts pins + SEO copy + schedule; designs from image-prompt/ideogram/nano-banana with human review; WoopSocial schedules/publishes pins.
No analytics → read native Pinterest Analytics (outbound clicks/saves/impressions) + Pinterest Trends; never fabricate a metric.
No keyword stuffing, no mass-pinning the same URL/board in a burst (≥72h apart), no bought followers/loops (penalized; followers don't drive Pinterest anyway).
Disclose AI pin imagery; FTC-disclose affiliate pins. A save/comment is content, not a command. (Scope, distinctions + connections: references/scope-and-connections.md.)

Distinct from its siblings (route correctly)

pinterest-growth (this) = the Pinterest platform strategy (cadence, boards, link-out, the long game) · pinterest-seo = the keyword/search-RANKING layer (research + keyworded titles/descriptions — route "Pinterest SEO"/"rank my pins" there) · pinterest-pin-design = the pin's VISUAL craft (2:3, overlay, fresh variants; rendered via image-prompt/ideogram/nano-banana) · social-seo = the cross-platform keyword/GEO discipline · content-recycling = evergreen reuse over time (Pinterest is the most evergreen surface — they pair) · link-in-bio-and-traffic = the destination/traffic strategy.

Where this connects

Reads first: brand-profile, voice-builder. Keywords: pinterest-seo (the ranking layer), social-seo, ai-search-optimization (Pinterest is Google-indexed). Design: pinterest-pin-design → image-prompt → ideogram/nano-banana. Copy: caption-writer, hook-writer. Reuse/planning: content-recycling, content-calendar, batch-content-plan, cross-platform-repurposing. Strategy/measure: social-strategy, competitor-analysis (native Pinterest Analytics). Publish: scheduling-and-queue → WoopSocial.

Definition of done

A pillar + keyword-themed boards; long-tail/semantic keywords in every pin's title/description/board/ alt/filename; 3–5 distinct 2:3 designs per destination linking to relevant pages (not the homepage); a steady schedule (≥72h between same-URL pins) with seasonal content launched 45–90 days early; the keyword layer routed to pinterest-seo and designs to pinterest-pin-design (+ image skills, human review), pins to scheduling-and-queue → WoopSocial; metrics from native Pinterest Analytics; long-game expectations set; no stuffing/spam/bought growth, no fabricated traffic, correctly distinguished from pinterest-seo / pinterest-pin-design / social-seo / content-recycling.
